Harrison County EMS acquires new ambulances

Harrison County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), operated by Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH), is proud to announce the arrival of two new fully equipped ambulances to bolster its fleet of ambulances, ensuring safer and more reliable transportation for patients in need. This comes as part of a strategic effort to replace aging vehicles with high mileage and excessive maintenance requirements, thus enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of EMS operations in the region.

Harrison Memorial Hospital to join ED Bridge Program

The Kentucky Statewide Opioid Stewardship (KYSOS) Emergency Department (ED) Bridge team is excited to announce that Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana has committed to implementing a Bridge Program that will begin in May 2024. KYSOS is working with Kentucky hospitals to fight the opioid epidemic by providing services to inpatient hospital settings, outpatient primary care clinics, and emergency departments (ED) throughout the state.

HMH hosts Pendleton County Health Fair on March 9

The Pendleton County Community Health Fair will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at  Phillip Sharp Middle School. The event offers free tests and screenings to area residents and is open to everyone. It is not exclusive to Pendleton County residents. All lab results will be posted to the HMHmyhealth! patient portal., or you may contact HMH Health Information Department to request a printed version.

HMH’s Laboratory Department Receives Accreditation from CAP

Harrison Memorial Hospital Laboratory in Cynthiana, KY, has been awarded reaccreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.

The laboratory’s medical director, Edward Tanous, M.D., was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of services being provided. 

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program.

HMH Board of Directors names four new members

The Harrison Memorial Hospital Board of Directors welcomed four new members to the board at its meeting on January 25, 2024. At the November 2023 meeting Mr. David Case, Dr. Doug Darbro, and Dr. Brett Hines were unanimously voted to serve on the hospital board. Dr. James Calder, HMH Chief of Staff for 2024-2025, will also serve on the board of directors during his tenure as chief.
