Dr. Jennifer Canan joins HMH Active Medical Staff

Harrison Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Jennifer Canan, D.O., Obstetrician and Gynecologist, to its active medical staff. 

Dr. Canan has joined Dr. Derek Clarke and Dr. Laura Moore in providing full-service obstetrical and gynecologic care to our female patients. Dr. Canan will specialize in general gynecology care, as well as full-service obstetrical care, from pregnancy diagnosis to delivery and follow-up care.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Canan join our medical staff at Harrison Memorial,” says Dr. Stephen Toadvine, HMH Chief Executive Officer. “By adding a third OB/GYN physician increases access to women’s care in our service area, and Dr. Canan is a great addition to medical staff, hospital and community.”

Dr. Canan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Wright State University in Dayton, OH in 2005. In 2013, she then earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH. Then, in 2017, she completed her OB/GYN residency at Kettering Health Network, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Dayton, OH. Since 2017, she has served as an attending physician with Wayne Healthcare in Greenville, OH, where she also served as OB Department Chair.

She is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG). Canan is also a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In her role as an obstetrician-gynecologist, Canan is focused on providing her patients with high quality care and building strong relationships with her patients so they can make the best decisions with regard to their health together.

“The best relationships are built on trust, and I am committed to using my knowledge and skills to treat every patient to the best of my ability every day,” Canan said. “I believe the physician and patient are a team working together with a goal of great health. I want my patients to feel like they can reach out with questions and concerns and know I am there to listen and help them.”
Dr. Canan is married to Jesse and they have two children and have recently purchased a farm in Harrison County. 

“During our first visit, we fell in love with the hospital, its staff and the people of the area,” says Dr. Canan. “My family and I are looking forward to being a part of the community of Cynthiana.”
