Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. All massages include the use of aromatherapy, range of motion, education and stretching. Our licensed massage therapist at HMH offers the following massages:

Swedish/Classic Massage

The classic form of full-body massage relaxes the body, improves muscle tone and circulation.

Customized Massage

A massage designed for individuals wanting more detailed bodywork on specific areas. This is beneficial in areas of chronic tension as well as the sports enthusiast.

Stress Relief Massage

This massage relieves stress related symptoms such as tense sore muscles, or headaches due to colds, allergies or sinus problems.

Prenatal Massage

This type of massage is for mother to be after the first trimester of pregnancy. The massage relieves back pain and other symptoms associated with pregnancy and lends circulation support to reduce problems with swelling varicose vein and leg cramps.

Injury Massage

The massage is designed is to help the client become pain-free. Massage is performed on muscle segments with a specific, deeper technique.

Structural Massage

The massage works with the muscles to put the body back into alignment and away from chronic holding patterns.

Therapeutic Massage

The massage is designed to relieve sore and overworked muscles and prevent and heal injuries. The massage is ideal for work-related injuries as well as athletic injuries.

Hot Stone Therapy

The luxurious massage uses warm lava stones. It promotes circulation, soothes sore and tired muscles and brings about a sense of well-being, comfort and healing.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is working with the deeper layer of muscle tissue that holds soreness and trigger points. During this massage, there is trigger point therapy, neuromuscular, stretching and range of motion education to increase the results and overall effectiveness of the massage.

Reflexology

Reflexology is the practice of manipulating reflex areas in the feet that correspond to the specific body parts and organs.

Body Scrub

Body Scrub is the exfoliation treatment to improve skin health. Benefits include the removal of the superficial layers of skin, improved circulation, immune function, increased energy, nutrient exchange and moisture absorption through the skin.

Shae Bishop is the new licensed massage therapist at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Originally from Kentucky, Shae graduated from the Utah College of Massage Therapy in 2008.

Shae offers the following massages: Swedish/classic; injury; deep tissue; pre-natal, chair and reflexology. She also offers body scrub exfoliation.

Massage therapy is located in the HMH Rehabilitation Department.
